LEPAGE ET SES MB 152 - LEPAGE AND HIS MB 152

Georges Lepage effectue son premier vol aux commandes du Morane Saulnier 406 n°149 le 5 décembre 1939 à Avord. Il se retrouve à Oran le 7 janvier 1940 pour continuer son entraînement. Il intègre tout d'abord la 1a 1^ère escadrille du GC I/9 où il vole sur Morane 406 puis escadrille du GC II/9. Il rejoint Marignane entre le 13 avril et le 5 mai 1940. Le 11 mai 1940, le GC II/9 rejoint Châteauroux pour passer sur MB 152. Lepage est lâché sur le n°609 le 14 mai.
Georges Lepage makes his first flight with the Morane Saulnier 406 n°149 on December 5th, 1939 at Avord. He moves to Oran on January 7th, 1940 to continue his training. He integrates at first the 1^st squadron of the GC I/9 where he flies Morane 406 and then the 3^rd squadron of the GC II/9. He joins Marignane between April 13^th and on May 5^th, 1940. On May 11^th, 1940, the GC II/9 joins Chateauroux to convert on MB 152. Lepage is released on the n°609 on May 14^th.
Le GC II/9 est affecté à la base de Buc (Sud-Ouest de Paris) les 18 et 19 mai 1940. Lepage effectue sa première mission de guerre le 23 mai à bord du n°605 baptisé « Toto » en mémoire du petit chien ratier de ses parents, très agressif envers les rats, espérant combattre ainsi les Allemands avec le même acharnement. Lors de cette mission, Lepage découvre un Dornier Do 17 qu'il ne réussit pas à abattre car seules ses mitrailleuses fonctionnent. Le lendemain, le groupe part à Connantre, dans la Marne. Le MB 152 n°605 reçoit le n°48 blanc début juin. Le 3, Lepage décolle sur alerte avec le lieutenant Laval à la poursuite de bombardiers ennemis. Il sera mitraillé et son avion sérieusement endommagé par un adversaire invisible ; il parvient à sortir son train et se pose à Chantilly. « Toto » ne volera plus. Le 9 juin, il repart aux commandes du n°311 mais se pose aussitôt sur panne provoquée par un oiseau dans l'arrivée d'air du moteur.
The GC II/9 is affected at tBuc Air Base (South-west of Paris) on May 18^th and 19^th 1940. Lepage makes his his first war mission on May 23^rd on board of n°605 called "Toto" in memory of the small ratter dog of his parents, very aggressive towards the rats, hoping then to fight the Germans with same eagerness. During this mission, Lepage finds a Dornier Do 17 but does not succeed in shooting it down because only his machine-guns function. The following day, the group moves to Connantre, in the Marne. The MB 152 n°605 receives the white n°48 at the beginning of June. The 3, Lepage takes off on alarm with Lieutenant Laval to find enemy bombers. He will be machine-gunned and his aircraft seriously damaged by an invisible enemy ; he manages to exit his undercarriage and lands in Chantilly. "Toto" will not fly any more. On June 9^th, he takes off with the n°311 but lands again on breakdown caused by a bird in the air flow of the engine.

Après l'Armistice, Lepage se retrouve à Clermont-Ferrand-Aulnat le 13 août avec le MB 152 n°197, à bord duquel il se « vautrera » train ouvert bloqué, sur panne moteur. L'avion sera réformé. Il se verra attribuer ensuite le n°672 qu'il baptisera « Toto II ». Lepage demande son congé d'Armistice en février 1942. Il rejoint Oran durant l'été 1942 et sera mobilisé mais dans l'artillerie en mars 1943. Il n'aura jamais eu de victoires.
After the Armistice, Lepage is affected in Clermont-Ferrand-Aulnat on August 13^th with the MB 152 n°197, on board of which he will crashed with undercarriage blocked in outdoor position and on engine failure. The aircraft will be reformed. He will then have the n° 672 that he will call "Toto II". Lepage asks for his Armistice liberation in February 1942. He joins Oran during the summer 1942 and will be mobilized again but in the artillery in March 1943. He will never have had air kills.
