On May 11th, 1940, the GC II/9 joined Chateauroux to convert on MB 152. Lepage was released on the n°609 on May 14th. The GC II/9 was affected at Buc Air Base (South-west of Paris) on May 18th and 19th 1940. Lepage maked his first war mission on May 23rd on board of n°605 called "Toto" in memory of the small ratter dog of his parents, very aggressive towards the rats, hoping then to fight the Germans with same eagerness. During this mission, Lepage met a Dornier Do 17 but did not succeed in shooting it down because only his machine-guns functionned. The following day, the group moved to Connantre, in the Marne. The MB 152 n°605 received the white n°48 at the beginning of June. The 3, Lepage took off on alarm with Lieutenant Laval to find enemy bombers. He was machine-gunned and his aircraft seriously damaged by an invisible enemy ; he managed to exit his undercarriage and landed in Chantilly. "Toto" did not fly any longer. On June 9th, he took off with the n°311 but landed again on breakdown caused by a bird in the air flow of the engine.

After the Armistice, Lepage was affected in Clermont-Ferrand-Aulnat on August 13th with the MB 152 n°197, on board of which he crashed with undercarriage blocked in outdoor position and on engine failure. The aircraft was reformed. He then had the n° 672 that he called "Toto II". Lepage asked for his Armistice liberation in February 1942. He joined Oran during the summer 1942 and was mobilized again but in the artillery in March 1943. He never had air kills.
