En mai 2019, j'ai rencontré Jean-Yves Le Guyader sur le stand de l'ABSA 39-45, lorsque nous exposions sur la manifestation "Assaut sur le Bégo", à Plouharnel (56). Jean-Yves cherchait à en savoir plus sur son grand-père, Jean-Baptiste Chauvat, aviateur dans les années 30-40, dont il possédait deux photos : celle ci-dessus représentant son grand-père et quelques autres devant un Potez 25, et l'autre ci-dessous représentant un Amiot AAC-1 Toucan (fabrication française du Junkers 52). Grâce à quelques spécialistes et passionnés, nous avons pu identifier que :
- J.B. Chauvat était (à priori) adjudant-chef.
- il appartenait au 31e RAO (Régiment d'Aviation d'Observation), basé à Tours.
- il a reçu le 30 juillet 1930 la Médaille militaire, lorsque qu'il était sergent (puis sergent-chef la même année) peut-être liée à son passage au Levant.
- il est resté à Tours jusqu'en 1934 puis est passé dans la réserve.
- l'avion derrière les militaires est un Potez 25 A4 à moteur Lorraine.
- la photo du Amiot AAC-1 Toucan peut dater de son rappel après la guerre, en 1946.

In May 2019, I met Jean-Yves Le Guyader on the booth of ABSA 39-45, when we exhibited on the event "Assault on the Bego", in Plouharnel (Brittany, 56). Jean-Yves expected to know more about his grandfather, Jean-Baptiste Chauvat, airman in the years 30-40, of which he had two photos : the one above representing his grandfather and some others in front of a Potez 25, and the other below representing a Amiot AAC-1 Toucan (French manufacture of Junkers 52). Thanks to a few specialists and enthusiasts, we have been able to identify that :
- J.B. Chauvat was (presumably) Chief Warrant Officer.
- he belonged to the 31st RAO (Observation Air Regiment), based in Tours.
- he received the Military Medal on July 30, 1930, when he was sergeant (then flight-sergeant), perhaps related to his stay in the Levant.
- he stayed in Tours until 1934 and then remained in the reserve.
- the plane behind the military is a Potez 25 A4 with Lorraine engine.
- the photo of the Amiot AAC-1 Toucan can date from its recall after the war, in 1946.
